I'm having some issues with my drop-down field that's tied to a list in excel defaulting to the first listed item for all items within my gallery.  How can I have the form display the "Status" that was previously selected while not updating the status when another item is updated for another item. .

    Within my screenshot, I have two statuses that I'm going reference. The first with the drop down is the drop down that I added to my form that is displaying in error. The second Status field is the original that is tied to the form when I initially made it. I'm trying to change the first status bar and change the status within my data source. @Amik

    @Amik Would you be able to help me on this?

    @Cwilliams12 -

    As I understand it, you have added an EditForm control into your app and your data source is Excel.

    You have modified one of the DataCards for one of your fields and embedded a Dropdown control inside it. You want the Dropdown control to default to the selected item in the Gallery.

    I would expect the Default property of the DataCard (not the DataCardValue) to contain:

    ThisItem.Status

    And the Default property (or DefaultSelectedItem, if using a Combo Box) to be:

    Parent.Default

    On a related note, please migrate your data to SharePoint (or ideally Dataverse if your organisation has a licence), Excel is a terribly unwieldy data source.

    @Amik Thanks for the response. I understand excel not being a good data source. Once
    I can fix these few errors; we plan to move forward with creating a new table within our data warehouse. Now that the status matches what's in the excel table, how can i get PowerApps to correspond with Excel in regards to editing the status within an existing form? When I change the status; the status doesn't change in excel. My data source for  the form is "TestClaimTable". The Forms Item property is set to "Gallery1.Selected". How can I get these two to sync.

    @Cwilliams12 - assuming the solution provided has answered the question, please remember to accept the solution.

    Regarding your Form. As I understand it, you use the SubmitForm function to update your data source but the data does not save. Are you sure the Excel file is closed prior to executing the SubmitForm function?
