Multiselect combobox doesnt save values in EditForm

I have a powerapp canvas app with SharePoint as the backend.

I am using multiselect combobox in New form which saves data into the Person column (multiselect) in SharePoint successfully.

Combobox Items Property

Filter( Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm: DataCardValue17.SearchText,top:500}),
Department = "Banking and Finance"
)

ComboBox Update Property

ForAll(
DataCardValue17.SelectedItems,
{
'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(Mail),
Department: Department,
DisplayName: DisplayName,
Email: Mail,
JobTitle: JobTitle
}
)

However if i use the same code in Edit Form, SubmitForm(Form2) doesnt work. It throws error "Network error using Patch function: The requested operation is invalid" on this multiselect Combobox. Below is the code on EditForm.

ComboBox Items

Filter( Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm: DataCardValue14.SearchText,top:500}),
Department = "Banking and Finance"
)

ComboBox update

ForAll(
DataCardValue14.SelectedItems,
{
'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(Mail),
Department: Department,
DisplayName: DisplayName,
Email: Mail,
JobTitle: JobTitle
}
)

Combobox Default Selected Items

ThisItem.'Group Members'

May i know where i am going wrong?

    Hi @Iantaylor2050 ,

    The issue here is that your Items schema has the field Mail whereas in your Person field, it is called Email. You have covered this in the Data Card Update, but for an existing record, you need to store the Combo Box Table in DefaultSelectedItems the same way, so

    RenameColumns(
     ThisItem.'Group Members',
     "Email",
     "Mail"
    )

    Your Update could be a bit more specific with

    ForAll(
     DataCardValue14.SelectedItems As aSel,
     {
     '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
     Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(aSel.Mail),
     Department: aSel.Department,
     DisplayName: aSel.DisplayName,
     Email: aSel.Mail,
     JobTitle: aSel.JobTitle
     }
    )

    and your Items

    Filter(
     Office365Users.SearchUser(
     {
     searchTerm: Self.SearchText,
     top:500
     }
     ),
     Department = "Banking and Finance"
    )

    Hi @WarrenBelz

    I am trying the above logic in Edit form for single select person column. However it throws error  when submitting the form saying "The requested operation is invalid". May i know where i am going wrong?

    For NewForm same code works fine. Only Editform has issues

    NewForm Combobox Items property

    Filter( Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm: DataCardValue2_2.SearchText,top:500}),
    Department = "Banking and Finance"
    )

    NewForm ComboBox Update property

    {
    '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
    Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(DataCardValue2_2.Selected.Mail),
    Department: DataCardValue2_2.Selected.Department,
    DisplayName: DataCardValue2_2.Selected.DisplayName,
    Email: DataCardValue2_2.Selected.Mail,
    JobTitle: DataCardValue2_2.Selected.JobTitle
    }

    EditForm Combobox Items property

    Filter(
    Office365Users.SearchUser(
    {
    searchTerm: Self.SearchText,
    top:500
    }
    ),
    Department = "Banking and Finance"
    )

    EditForm Combobox Update property

    {
    '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
    Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(DataCardValue2_1.Selected.Mail),
    Department: DataCardValue2_1.Selected.Department,
    DisplayName: DataCardValue2_1.Selected.DisplayName,
    Email: DataCardValue2_1.Selected.Mail,
    JobTitle: DataCardValue2_1.Selected.JobTitle
    }

    EditForm Combobox Default selected items

    @Iantaylor2050 ,

    Same issue - the Combo Box schema with the Items you have has a field called Mail and if you do not select anything, the table is trying to patch back to a field called Email.

    Hi @WarrenBelz

    I did try this but it throws error

    RenameColumns(
     ThisItem.'Group Members',
     "Email",
     "Mail"
    )

    Invalid argument type record. Expecting a table value instead

    Hi @Iantaylor2050 ,

    Yes - you have a record, not a Table, so rename columns will not work. Probably this as DefaultSelectedItems

    {
     Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(ThisItem.PIUser.Email),
     Department: ThisItem.PIUser.Department,
     DisplayName: ThisItem.PIUser.DisplayName,
     Mail: ThisItem.PIUser.Email,
     JobTitle: ThisItem.PIUser.JobTitle
    }
