Attachments to PowerApps Application

Hi,

Created powerapps application and Oracle table is the backend. I need to add attachments button to upload the files, so I would like to know how to achieve this and best practices.

And there are more than 10 dropdown fields in application, so created separate tables for each dropdown with dropdown values and created separate connections for each table in powerapps. Does it effect performance of the application? Do I need to create only single table for all dropdown controls with dropdown values and write filter functions for each dropdown control?

What would be the best way?

Please advise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello @aaedla,

As far as I know, uploading attachments through the Oracle connector is not possible in Power Apps. If you use other other data sources, e.g. SharePoint or Dataverse, you could include an attachment control as part of a form connected to your data source.

If you managed to obtain the file, e.g. through the camera control, you could potentially directly write the file content directly to a database field, but I have not tried this.

One workaround in a project was to upload the attachment to a SharePoint list using Power Apps, get the uploaded file's link and insert the link into the database. Maybe this is an option for you?

I think the approach using 10 tables is best. You could consider creating collections instead of tables if you are worried about performance. This data would be available directly within the app, and you could use it to populate your controls. You would have to update the allowed values for the dropdowns in the collections in your app though.

Thank you for your comments. Right now we are using SharePoint online to store the data and there are already more than 5k records and going forward users are going to create more records so organization wanted to use Oracle instead of SharePoint, as there some limitations (if entries are more than 5k we get performance issues) for SharePoint online. I suggested Dataverse instead of Oracle but I didn't get approval for that. Now I should go with Oracle only so I would like to know is there any way to create attachment control to upload files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.
