@Anonymous For ease of debugging add the Status to the Form itself.

Set the Default of  DataCardValue for Status to In Progress.

See if it works always setting to In Progress on every save.

Now try putting this as Default of DataCardValue for Status

    If(Parent.Default = "Reject", "In Progress",Parent.Default)

Then check if the Status Reject if it autochange on form always now to In Progress. When Submitting it will b In Progress.

Finally just set the visible of this Data Card to false so nobody can change this manually or see this on the form.

Check if approach like above could help you.

basically, user only can see the status on their gallery. when they click edit button they cannot see their status. but after click update , what i want is the status will change IN PROGRESS.

    Hi @Anonymous,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario:

1). is the status column existing in the data source that you populate the Form and Gallery with?

2). what if the column type of the status, Choice?

If the Status column exists in the data source that you populate the Form and Gallery with, I think it is easy to achieve this.

I assume the form Item property is set the Gallery.Selected, then please set the Update button OnSelect property as below:

    Patch(DataSource,
     Gallery1.Selected,
{Status:{Value:"In Progress"}}// Assume that Status is a Choice column
    )

    - yes the comes from data source
2)what if the column type of the status, Choice?
    yes, its the choice function

the process or flow i maintain is as below

1.user created new ticket (status : new (default ) > admin (process the ticket 😞 so they will choose the status in progress/ complete/ reject. when admin reject the ticket, admin need to give the reason .
    2. user will see the status of the ticket at the apps and when the status show the reject , user can click edit at the reject item then after they click update, the status will change to new/ in progress.. so that admin know that user already attach document required by admin..

i facing the problem on how to change the status when user edit the ticket that have been rejected

    Hi @Anonymous,

    Okay, thanks for the details.

Actually, if you put the SubmitForm() and Patch() function together, it do cause the error because the Gallery1.Selected could not be recognized.

I am confused that there are two submit button, one is a tick and another is your Update button, both of them are used to submit the form?

I want to confirm with you that if you want to update the status after you submit the form or before you submit the form.

If you want to update the status just after you submit the form, you could set the OnSuccess property of your form as below:

    Patch(DataSource,
     Form1.LastSubmit,
{Status:{Value:"In Progress"}}// Assume that Status is a Choice column
    )

tick and update button is same function which submit the form.
i want to ask, if the status is still new and they submit the button , its will show the in progress also?

I already add your suggestion in on success but its show error

    Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, the status will be changed to In Progress every time you submit the form.

Firstly, there is something syntax wrong to your formula, you should replace the DataSource with your real list name like 'Payment Request'.

Secondly, if you just want to update the status only when you edit the record which has a reject status, I think I should confirm with you that how you edit the record that has a reject status, select in the Gallery and populate the form with it? If so, that's why I refer to the Gallery1.Selected at very first.

Tell me how you configure the form Item and the relationship between the both.

only the reject item will be turn into the in progress.

On your question, on how i edit the record, select the item that have been reject as show in the gallery and the form will appear... i filter that by the ID.

    it still the error

    Hi @Anonymous,

    That's much easier.

Could you please show me the specific error message?

The Status column is a Choice column in your SP list, right? The following is my screenshot of my status column settings as below:
