Many-to-many relationship with SharePoint?

Hi,

I'm using SharePoint lists to create Power Apps. One thing I want to implement is many-to-many relationships between lists and I don't know how to do that. I've read somewhere that people are using a third table (join table) to achieve this.

I have 2 tables, Courses and Participants. A participant can take part in multiple courses and a course can have multiple participants.

Is there a solution to achieve this with SharePoint lists or would I have to use Power Automate or Dataverse?

Thanks,

Ville

    First, remember that SharePoint is not a true database.  You can approximate something that looks and works like a database, but its actually a flat file database.

    Having said that, the normal workaround for a many to many relationships to have a central list that contains the keys from the two other lists.  In other words there is a many to one relationship between each of the lists and the central list.  Any records then that share a record in the central list will have the equivalent of a many to many relationship.

    @VilPel

    For more information about how to display data in a many to many relationship, please see my blog post https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/News-Announcements/Relational-Database-Principles-and-PowerApps-Step-3-Keys-and/ba-p/188640 and the one following it shows how to implement it in PowerApps.

    Thank you for your replies!

    So you're saying this is possible to implement? Are there any kind of tutorials or templates about this?
