Hi,I have a database table which I'm just about to add data to. I've added a column that will show which was original data and which is new. How can I populate this column with text for all the records in the table?

You can use various mechanisms.
If it is varied data, the simplest thing would be to use the export of the current table and then fill it in Excel and import it in the same format that you exported.
If the data is the same, you can use select records and edit all of them in bulk (if there are many records, don't do it)
Using DataFlow to insert the data if it comes from the same table doing a mapping, even if it comes from another table it can help you

Its a dataverse table.
I would recommend using XrmToolbox and SQL4CDS plugin. You can just do a SQL query there like
Update <Table> Set <Field> = <Value>
and run it - it will update all the data you need.
