Custom Dropdown Form and Updating Field in Sharepoint List

How can I update a custom inserted dropdown to update a field in a SharePoint List?

I am assembling this into a custom container for better layout.  Is it possible to reference the bottom DataCard when updating the top dropdown to change the field value in the list?
