Combo box to add email addresses to that behaves the same as Outlook

I wish to create a combo box that behaves the same as the 'To' box in Outlook when composing an email, where you type in people's email's in and it auto-recognises them.

Currently I have a Combox linking to Office 365 users using this code -

Office365Users.SearchUser({top:999})

But I want to be able to type new and/or external email addresses into this box as well.

Is this possible at all?

Thanks,

Rob

    Hi @RobChilds ,

    There is no "Hint" text or auto-fill facility similar to what you describe available in Power Apps. the only thing roughly close would be to maybe make the Tooltip as LookUp based on StartsWith() the entry made, but I am not sure this would really be effective.

    Thanks @WarrenBelz

    Is it possible for me to modify my Combo Box, so that users can type in a new and/or external email address as well?

    I'm trying to avoid having a second box.

    Many thanks for your help,

    Rob

    @RobChilds ,

    What type of field are your writing back to? If a text field, there are possible workarounds, but if you are writing to a Person field, not so easy.

    @WarrenBelz ,

    At the moment I have a Combo box using the below code: -

    Items - Office365Users.SearchUser({top:999})

    OnChange - Set(VarAttendees,Concat(ComboBox1.SelectedItems,Mail&";"))

    This works perfectly well for searching and adding internal email addresses but I was hoping to incorporate adding new and/or external emails.

    Maybe the only option is to add a second text input box the allow users to input email addresses into?

    How would I then link this into the VarAttendees variable?

    Sorry my knowledge is lacking, hopefully I have explained myself well enough!.

    Many thanks for your help,

    Rob

    @RobChilds ,

    That was the direction I was going, but I need to know what type of field you are writing back to in your Data Source (with the Combo Box)

    @WarrenBelz ,

    I think this is where my lack of knowledge will show as I'm unsure on that.

    For the Combo Box it says the following...

    Display Fields: ["DisplayName","Mail"]

    Search Fields: ["DisplayName"]

    Is this what you mean?

    Basically I'm amending the Book a Room template app, and I followed this guide to add attendees to room bookings...

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/sending-invites-in-Book-a-room-app-template/td-p/438176

    I managed to get it working so that attendees would receive the booking request, but it would be great to add external contacts as well.

    Many thanks for your help on this.

    Regards,

    Rob

    @RobChilds ,

    I am unfamiliar with the template (I do not use them), but it appears to be a Person field.

    If you had a different structure (Text field), I would try to guide you there (even then it is a bit complex), but (as I mentioned previously) a Person field requires a whole heap of values that probably do not belong and you actually will not have if you just have a name. I also do not use them for many reasons and this blog of mine might interest you. I will pass on this one sorry.

    @WarrenBelz ,

    No problem at all. Thanks very much for all your assistance.

    Best regards,

    Rob
