I have a 'gallery2' on screen1 that displays data from a sharepoint list. I have an arrow button that takes you to the edit screen with the edit form. I used the sharepoint list name as the datasource for the form, but when I try to use gallery2.Selected for Items field on the form I get a "There is an error in this formula. Try revising the formula and running it again". Everything I've seen says this how to do it, what am I missing?

Use Lookup(yourdatasource,ID=Gallery2.Selected.ID) as the Item property of the form and make sure yourdatasource identical to the Data Source property of the form.
That worked! Why didn't what I was trying to use work?
Because once you change the items property of the gallery, by reshaping the datasource table it is based on,it is no longer identical to the datasource of the form. so the item property of the form must be more specific.
