Standalone app for SPO List

Hello,

I am new to Power Apps and trying to check if its possible to use a single Power Apps form for New, Edit and View functionalities for a SPO list?

I am using a standalone canvas app and do not want to use Customize all forms option under SPO list > Integrate option. My requirement is when I click on New button in SPO list, it should load New Form in canvas app, Edit option should load the form in Edit mode with the item selected and clicking on a list item should load the form in View mode.

As per below article, it looks like we can use the Launch function with ID sent over to load the canvas app when clicking on the items:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Launch-PowerApps-from-SharePoint-List-quot-New-quot-Button/td-p/559758

But I couldn't make it work for all the 3 functionalities (New, Edit & View) yet, instead only make it work for 2 of them. Any better solutions to launch the app from SPO list for all these 3 functionalities?

Logic used at App start and Form Default Mode

//App start
Set(
 varID,
 Param("ID")
);

//Form Default Mode
If(
 !IsBlank(varID),FormMode.Edit,FormMode.New
 );

Thanks

    Hello,

    I believe you are able to do it for View and edit form.
    So for New form, you need to directly launch the App, this will Pass ID as blank and it will open the newForm.

    Hello,

    I am able to do it for New & Edit or New & View., but not for View & Edit. I'm unable to determine the logic to be used in app for identifying whether the click from SPO list is for View or Edit. In both cases, I am passing ID as the parameter for both OnView and OnEdit actions. But is there any additional check that can be performed to see if the action from SPO list item is for Edit or View and load the form accordingly?

    Thanks

    Hello,
    You will have to pass another property form mode.
    then check the property and set the form mode accordingly.

    https://apps.powerapps.com/play/1234-4868-459a-a9f3-fe0ad9a2bf80?ID=123&FormMode=edititem

    and FormMode property set to

    Switch(Param("FormMode"),
     "edititem",
     FormMode.Edit,
    "viewform",FormMode.View,
    FormMode.New
    )

    Thank you @theapurva . this helps.

    If the form has more fields or labels to be displayed in View Mode, is there a way to remove these additional spaces when using the same form in Edit or New mode?

    Hello @digital_user ,

    Yes in form you have to put everything in the datacard.

    Whenever you hide that datacard conditionally next card takes it's place

    you can refer my answer on below post:
