Incompatible types for comparison. These types can't be compared: Record, Text.

I have 2 dropdowns in a SharePoint list with a PowerApps modified form. I want to show/hide dropdown2 based on dropdown1.

In "Visible" property of DropDown2 card, I added,

If(
DropDown1.Selected = Text("UK" * "EU"),
true,
false
)

My error:
Incompatible types for comparison. These types can't be compared: Record, Text.
We can't evaluate your formula because the values being compared in the formula aren't the same type.

"Update" property for each one is
DropDown1.SelectedText.Value = Text
DropDown2.Selected = Record

How do I get them to match?

I did try and remove Text(), but it didn't make a difference.

    Hi @Deb30001,

    Do you want to show the second dropdown if the selected value is UK or EU? In this case the following code should do the trick:

    //Should Value not work, try DropDown1.Selected.ColumnName
    DropDown1.Selected.Value = "UK" || DropDown1.Selected.Value = "EU"

    If this solves your question, would you be so kind as to accept it as a solution.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply!

    I now get an error on the .Value; Name isn't valid. 'Value' isn't recognized.

    I deleted the .Value and Come up with the original error message about incompatible types.

    ...and adding the .ColumnName didn't work either.

    Hi @Deb30001,

    .ColumnName will have to be replaced with the name of the column which is shown in the dropdown. Could you give that a try?

    Additionally, would it be possible to show the code in the dropdown Items property?

    The .ColumnName didn't work.

    The Items field has something in there, not sure how to add anything to it.

    DropDown1.Selected.Result = "UK" || DropDown1Selected.Result = "EU"

    This works!

    Thank you so much!

    @Deb30001 Thanks for the update!

    I expect that you will have used a Distinct or split function in in your application - this returns Result.

    When trying to compare text with a dropdown selection, you will always have to 'drill down' further with .Value / .Result / .ColumnName

    Glad I could be of help 😊

    If this solves your question, would you be so kind as to accept it as a solution.
    Thanks!
