Model-Driven App vs Canvas App - Licensing

I'm creating a CDS app connecting to D365 and have some users who do not have D365 licenses who will need to access the app from tablets, laptops, and mobile phones. Am I able to use model-driven apps to do this since you must launch the model-driven apps in the D365 mobile considering the licensing requirements? Or do I need to use a canvas app and have that canvas app available within the mobile PowerApps app? Lots of "app" talk here.

    Hi @saturation ,

    The issue is around the access to CDS which requires any user (mobile or PC) to have a per user licence. Whether this is canvas or model-driven is not relevant.

    A per-user license, though, can be a PowerApps license, right?

     

    Also, the reason I'm asking about the Model-Driven or Canvas is I'm wondering if a PowerApps-only licensed user can launch an app inside the D365 mobile app, or if they have to use the PowerApps app. If they have to use the PowerApps app, then it's my understanding the app would have to be built as a Canvas app....

     

    Per MS documentation, "Model-driven apps don't run in the Power Apps mobile app. Instead, you run a model-driven app on a mobile device using the Dynamics 365 mobile app."
