Filter out Current User from dropdown

Hello, @BCBuizer

I have a use case where my "Requestor" field (people picker ComboBox) auto populates my text field (Department of Requestor) .  Next i have a dropdown that pulls a list of Authorized Approvers based of the department.  However, i need it where if the requestor is = to an Approver filter out the authorizing user so you basically cant select yourself.  So if Requestor = Approver filter current user or that specific person out of dropdown.

    Hi @mfigliulo ,

    You can do this by applying a filter to the Items property of the ComboBox:

    Filter(
     SharePointListName,
     ApproversColumn.Email <> User().Email
    )

    This is not delegable, but as long as the number of items in your list isn't too long, this will not pose any issues.

    Hmmm,  @BCBuizer

    I cant seem to get that to work, Can i filter on my Approver dropdown since thats pulling from a smaller sharepoint list

    something like this ThisItem.'Authorizing Official (Name)' <> User().FullName)

    Hi @mfigliulo ,

    Indeed this is meant to be applied to the control that has the approvers in it. If you can share the current Items property for that, I can amend that.

    did you want the drop down thats being filtered or the requestor people picker?

    ComboBox People picker = Choices([@AD20_1].Requestor)

    DropDown being filter by department

    If(DataCardValue30.Text ="Information Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Legal" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Finance" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Administration" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Employer Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Member Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Disability" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Organizational Excellence" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Communications" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Investments" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Office Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Internal Audit",
    Filter('Authorizing List', Department = DataCardValue30.Text,

    (DataCardValue30.Text ="Human Resources"),
    Sort('Authorizing List', 'Full Name'))

    Hi @mfigliulo ,

    The Items property of the dropdown can be wrapped in a filter to remove the current user:

    Filter(
    	If(
    		DataCardValue30.Text ="Information Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Legal" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Finance" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Administration" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Employer Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Member Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Disability" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Organizational Excellence" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Communications" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Investments" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Office Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Internal Audit",
    		Filter('Authorizing List', Department = DataCardValue30.Text,
    		(DataCardValue30.Text ="Human Resources"),
    		Sort('Authorizing List', 'Full Name')
    	),
    	PersonColumnName.EMail <> User().EMail
    )

    Hi @mfigliulo ,

    Seems a typo, try:

    Filter(
    	If(
    		DataCardValue30.Text ="Information Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Legal" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Finance" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Administration" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Employer Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Member Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Disability" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Organizational Excellence" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Communications" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Investments" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Office Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Internal Audit",
    		Filter('Authorizing List', Department = DataCardValue30.Text,
    		(DataCardValue30.Text ="Human Resources"),
    		Sort('Authorizing List', 'Full Name')
    	),
    	'Full Name'.Email <> User().Email
    )

    So this doesnt throw errors but doesnt work as needed,

    Filter(
    If(
    DataCardValue30.Text ="Information Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Legal" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Finance" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Administration" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Employer Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Member Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Disability" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Organizational Excellence" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Communications" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Investments" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Office Services" Or DataCardValue30.Text = "Internal Audit",
    Filter('Authorizing List', Department = DataCardValue30.Text),
    (DataCardValue30.Text ="Human Resources"),
    Sort('Authorizing List', 'Full Name')
    ),
    'Full Name' <> User().FullName
    )

    Hi @mfigliulo ,

    Can you please share what your Approvers list looks like? I assumed you used a Person type column in there, but that doesn't seem the case.

    Also please clarify what doesn't work as expected with the formula in your previous post.
