Hi Team,

I would like to know how to get attachments within .msg file after it is saved it to Sharepoint document library.

Scenario I want to implement is like getting attachments from an attached file without using any 3rd party or paid services in MS flow.

    Hi @vijayalakshmi ,

If you want to get attachments within .msg file after it is saved into SharePoint document library, I am afraid that it is not possible currently.

If you need this feature, please consider submitting a request on Flow Ideas Forum at here:

I have figured out the following workaround for your reference. In the following scenario, an email and its attachments will be saved into one folder in SharePoint library.

    Best regards,

    Hi ,

Thanks for the update. My scenario is as per the below screenshot.

I have a "simple.msg" file in sharepoint document library which inturn contains image as its attachment. So now I want to retrieve that attachment of this ".msg" file.

    msg file.PNG

Could you please give some workaround to deal with this.

I don’t think you can after it’s been saved into the document library.

How does your email message get into the document library in the first place? Can you replace that with a Flow and get the attachment out before it goes into the library?

Actually email message itself is an attachment to another email . I had a flow to save the attachment of a newly arrived email to the document library.
Now my concern is if the attachment file(.msg file) is of email message type then how do I retrieve it's contents or it's attachment within it.

    Oh wow.

    Inception, right there.

I’m really not sure you will be able to do this with the current set of connectors.

    Hi @vijayalakshmi ,

Thanks for updating with more details.

However, it is not possible to retrieve attachments from an email which is already saved in SharePoint library.

Please feel free submit your request at Flow Ideas Forum.

    Best regards,

    Mabel

Actually if you DOWNLOAD the msg instead of clicking on it, you will be able to get the attachments.  Clicking on it opens in Preview mode.  I do not know if you can use that difference at all in the Flow.

Hi wonder if you ever got this resolved or a workaround?  I got the same issue for a while now and it is killing me.

Get emails with an email file attached which have the actual payload file within them.

It's 2023 and still not possible to access attachments from a .msg file in SharePoint using a Power Automate flow?
