Hi all,

I have a very simple Flow that uses the Get Manager step to look up the manager followed by an Update Item step to add the manager into an existing manager field.

The problem is that periodically information in several fields is not getting populated by the Update Item step.

the flow is part of a vacation request process, so there are date fields, number fields (for number of hours), plus person fields involved. depending on the request, different combinations of these fields are not being updated which results in the item appearing to be empty or completed incorrectly.

Does anyone have any tips on finding what might be preventing the information from being updated?

Hi @Anonymous,

Could you please share the screenshot of the configuration of your flow?

I have made a test on my side and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

You just need to input the "Site Address","List Name","Id" ,"Days" field that you must input, and the field you want to update. then you could leave the other field that you don't want to change blank.

You could refer to screenshot below to create the flow:

The expression in the Manager Name Claims column as below:

concat('i:0#.f|membership|',body('Get_manager_(V2)')?['mail'])

The flow would run successfully as below:

are you saying that fields which aren't changing can be left blank?

previously, if I left them blank, they would show up as empty. It was required that in the Update Item step each field would value would need to be specified, even if it wasn't changing.

it's difficult to show because the screen cuts off, but beyond this is just the end of the flow.

what's strange is that it works most of the time, but sometimes it will randomly not copy certain fields.

I would understand if the manager lookup was failing for some reason, but most of what is failing in the Update Item step are simply copying values from the original item.
