App for manufacturing to create a warehouse pick request for materials

I am a newbie to Power Apps and am working through creating an app that will allow work cells in a manufacturing environment to create requests for the materials warehouse to pick items they need for performing their part of the assembly process in completing assembly of a finished item.

I have a form created that has some "header" information like a unique request ID, the user creating the request, the finished item being worked on, etc.

There is then a gallery that displays applicable choices of material items based on the selected finished item. That gallery has a checkbox, the component item number, and an edit box to enter a quantity needed of the selected component item. Multiple items can be selected by checking the check box and entering a quantity needed.

Here is what I want to happen when all selections have been made for a request and the Submit button is clicked. I want to update 2 tables when submitting. I want to add records to a header table that has the type of information identified above. I then want to add records to a detail table that identify the items selected from the gallery as indicated by the fact that the associated check box is checked along with the quantity of that item required. I am having a tough time sorting out how I can pull the info on these selected items from the gallery and get that detail information into my intended data destination during form submit.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you very much.

It will depend on that "intended data destination" that you mentioned.  Also, what is your data source?  How do you know what is in the warehouse?

It would help to know where you are getting data from and where you want to send data to.  I am hoping the answer is not an Excel sheet...

Thanks very much for the quick reply.

The folks who would generate the requests have visibility to the on hand inventory through their ERP system, so that is not an issue here.

The data source tables are currently custom dataverse tables. Ultimately I see these as being tables in the client's on site instance of SQL Server, but dataverse is sufficient for the proof of concept stage this project is currently in. The same will apply to the destination tables although I have not actually created these as yet.

For what it is worth, I have created a couple of very simple apps already and have used Excel files as data sources on a couple of them. It quickly became apparent that this was unsuited to anything in a "production" type situation, so I share your misgivings on the Excel front.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

    @bmiller762

    Here is a formula example:

    ForAll(Gallery1.AllItems,
     If(Checkbox1.Value = true,
     Patch(colTest, Defaults(colTest), {Requestor: TextInput1.Text,Trailer:Dropdown1.Selected.Trailer,Axle:ThisRecord.Axle,Quantity:Value(TextInput2.Text)})))

"colTest" is my data source.  The table on the right shows the column names I'm using for this example.

After selecting the items and entering in the desired quantity, here's the result of the "Submit" formula:

If this resolves your issue, please mark it as such to help others find it!  If not, let me know.
