All Connections to Custom Connectors have the same name

Hi,

Is there a way not to have Custom Connectors name as the connection name for that service?

At the moment after I create a custom connector (uses OAuth) and create a connection to its service that connection (and all other connections to that service) have the same name. If the custom connector is called Something all connections for it are also called Something.

I saw that Outlook, Sharepoint, etc connectors have username or email(account) as the name of their connection. Is there a way to replicate that behavior for my own custom connector?

Thanks,

VP

    Hi @VPflow ,

It seems currently it is not available for Custom API to rename the connection.

For the other connections, there would be an edit page available, but for custom API, the editing page won't let the user change the Connection name (grayed out) after first creation.

    Hi @v-bacao-msft ,

Thank you for your response. I would like to know what determines the connection name?

When I am creating a custom connector, on the second step - Security, I can choose between No auth, Basic auth, API Key and OAuth2.0. I noticed that if I select Basic auth there is a warning saying Do NOT enter secrets here. These fields are used to configure display names for connections. Does this mean that if I choose Basic auth for this custom connector its connections would show username or email so there would be different emails as connection names for different connections? If yes, is this only the case for Basic auth? What if I want my connections named by usernames but want to use OAuth2.0? Is that possible?

Also, I am wondering if this behavior is different for publicly available connectors. The ones that went through the certification process. Does this mean that Office, Sharepoint, Slack, etc. public connectors, who all show username, use Basic auth or there are some additional steps needed during certification?

    Regards,

    VP
