duplicate recipients in email message entity

the following is the trigger being used and I'm just looking at the output.. There are multiple duplicates of the same email in the "torecipients" field.

The emails in the "torecipients" field are the exact same even though the email itself only has one. What is causing these duplicates in the field? How can we correct it? thanks

    How much does this bother you?  The result will still be a single email to each of the recipients.
