Cannot Share app with regular security group, only finds my mail enabled security group

According to this page, -> https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/share-app/

"You can share to a security group but not a distribution group" , I find that the sharing only locates my mail enabled security group, it cannot find the non mail enabled security group. Is this intended or is this a bug? We were able to share with normal security groups before but this must have recently changed as now it will not locate them. Any clarification would be appreciated, thanks!

Update: As well as the issue above, if sharing the app with the mail enabled security group, it will not actually give permissions to those within the security group, it seems like it explicitely assigns permissions to the security group's email as if that were a unique user.

    Hi @bobsaget,

Yes, currently it is only available to share App with the security groups within PowerApps.

For the users within the same security group, if they don't get the proper permission, then take a try to log out and log in their accounts again (not local logon, which would need those accounts to communicate with an Online Domain Controller ) to check.

If a user is newly added into a security group without sign out, the group membership may not be updated, which means the user can't access the resources assigned to that security group.

Please post back if that is not the case.

    Regards,

    Michael

    Hi @v-micsh-msft,

The trouble we're having is related to adding a group to sharing.

I have 2 apps, the first I created a couple weeks ago as a proof-of-concept, and it worked great. I was able to share it to a regular Security Group (the dev team) and they were able to view it correctly.

I then created a new app, maybe a week later, and when I went to share it I no longer had the same options. I tried sharing it to the exact same Security group as the first one, but received the error saying (... isn't in your organization's directory ...).

That's when we started testing with Distribution lists, and Mail enabled security groups - both of which just think the email address is a single person, and does not grant permission to the group.

Is this a bug, where Security Groups no longer show up for Sharing, or is it something new and we have to flip a switch in our settings somewhere?

    Thank You.
