[Power Automate] - Create a fillable field in a converted PDF

Hello community,

I am very new to PA and I am stuck on something that may or may not be a possibility. I am trying to re-create a web app we have where our staff fills out a simple form with a few questions that generates a professional development certificate. This generates a URL to a form where someone can put their name in a text box and it will open in the print screen with their name filled into the "name" field. We do this so our staff can easily create the certificate and the people they send it to can easily add their name and print.

We're having some issues where we are looking for an alternative, so I turned to Power Automate with the thought that we can do this with an MS form and conversation.

I am 90% the way there being able to fill out a form, have it save to SharePoint (as DOCX), then convert to a PDF and email it.

My Question: Once I have the PDF though, despite putting in content fields in my Word Document, there is no text box for the end-user to add their name. Is this possible? I know typically you would open a PDF and "prepare form" for that sort of thing, but it just seems like I should be able to convert my document so it retains the fillable text box in the PDF. This may be more of a question for a Word forum, but I thought maybe there were tools inside PA that could potentially achieve this as well (the solution doesn't need to be the PDF container, if there are other ways to insert that box... or at least have the end user be able to fill in their name).

Note - We do not want the true end user to have the word document or fill out the form, as we want someone to be able to share this with a large group of specific people (if the end user filled it out, we'd have to create some kind of approval system that our staff would have to check off on), BUT, I am open to hearing other solutions people may have because this may not be possible!

Thanks!

    Hi @leavittm8 ,

Unfortunately all PDF functions available only create a “flat” document. This is really a job for a Forms program such as MSForms or an equivalent third party item (Cognito Forms are quite good at this).

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.
