Hello

My organisation is moving the Microsoft AZure Sql tables to the common data service

My table called companies had 3000 records

In my powerapp I had to import the companies table into a collection by filtering the companies table and then adding it the end

ie

Clearcollect (Colla,Filter('frm _0company',ID >= 1 And ID <= 1999))
Clearcollect (Collb,Filter('frm _0company',ID >= 2000 ))
Clear(collc);
Collect(collc,colla);
Collect(collc,collb);

This was done because of a delegation issue

I was wondering does this still apply for CDS?

Does CDS have the same issue?

I hope someone can help me

Thank you

Marco

    Edited:

    Yes it works with a CDS.

    But with SQL and CDS a lot of the formulas can directly interact with the Datasource not necessarily a collection

    Hi @mpezzutti ,

    The answer is yes.

    Then let me explain the reason.

    Firstly, collection works for all data sources that you connected with your app.

    Secondly, the key point about avoiding the effect of delegation is to use delegate functions for that data source, not collection.

    You should only use delegate functions to save data from data source to collection.

    Then when data in collection, you could use all functions as in collection there' s no delegation limit.

    So in your issue, you should check whether the formulas that you use meet the delegation demands for CDS.

    Delegate functions for CDS:

    Item Number [1] Text [2] Option Set DateTime [3] Guid
    Filter Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
    Sort Yes Yes No Yes -
    SortByColumns Yes Yes No Yes -
    Lookup Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
    =, <> Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
    <, <=, >, >= Yes Yes No Yes -
    And/Or/Not Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
    StartsWith - Yes - - -
    IsBlank Yes [4] Yes [4] No [4] Yes [4] Yes
    Sum, Min, Max, Avg Yes [5] - - No -

    Filter(number) ,>,<,= are all delegate for CDS.

    Best regards,
