Record Person in Person Column

I'm attempting to record a Claim in a Person Column on a Sharepoint List based on an Employee ID entered in the app. I have read several tutorials and I've tried what I think is required--the name appears in the PowerApp, but when I submit, the Person Column is blank. Here's what I'm attempting to use as the Default in the Person Column field on the "New" Form. I've got to be missing something.

Your code looks ok. For debugging take a label and set it's text property to:
Office365Users.Manager(UserID).Mail
and check the result. It should be plain text email and id nothing else.

Do you want to save the manager display name to a Person column?

Could you please share a bit more about your need?

The Office() formula you used is to determine a manager's display name, you should make sure the user id you refer to surely has a manager.

Besides, we always recognize an email address an the user id, so please modify your user is as a unique email address.

Or you could check the input name firstly, and then search the manager based on input name mail.
