Hi,

I know there are several posts on this but I just can get it to work, i have never really used powerautomate before though.  I want to run a flow that automatically checks a list and if there isnt a new entry sends out an alert email.

Ive tried copying other examples but it either fails completely or suceeds but doesnt actually send anything.

 I have put  formatDateTime(utcNow(),'dd/mm/yyyy') as the expression for the filter but also have it as the condition, i have obviously got something wrong somewhere

    Hi @TBODEN ,

    Please use this expression in the 'Filter Query' of 'Get_items'.

    Note the case of 'Created' column name:

    formatDateTime(utcNow(),'yyyy-MM-dd')

    Hi,

    Ive put that it in for both the filter and the condition date.  The test suceeds but nothing has been emailed from the trigger, does it matter than my date format is UK?  Ive tried both yyyy-MM-DD and dd-MM-YYYY?

    Hi there,

    You need to use a date range for datetime fields, since you wouldn't get the precise time - and therefore it'd never "equal" what you wanted.

    Check out this post which walks you through step-by-step:

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/New-Items-in-the-list-gt-send-new-added-items-list-every-day-by/m-p/590902/highlight/true#M77818

    Also note that Created should be capitalized.

    Hi @TBODEN ,

    How long do you want to send an email without create a item?

    It has nothing to do with your UK format, please use 'yyyy-MM-dd'. This is the date format of SharePoint' list.

    If you want to check whether there are items created within a day, I did a test for your reference.

    In my scenario:

    vyetonggumsft_2-1699612156739.png

    length(outputs('Get_items')?['body/value'])

    Best Regards,

    Sunshine Gu

    Hi,

    That has started pulling the data but can i ask what i should be using for the condition?  I want to trigger if date doesnt equal today?

    Hi @TBODEN ,

    First, we use the 'Get Item' action to filter out items with a creation date of today.

    In "condition", we judge the number of items with a creation date of today.

    If the length is greater than 0, it proves that the quantity is greater than 0. New project created today.

    If the length is not greater than 0, the prove quantity is equal to 0, no new items are created today, and a notification email will be sent.

    Best Regards,

    Sunshine Gu

    thank you, you have been alot of help, that all make sense, there is just one last issue. sorry for being a pain.

    Created ge '@{utcNow('yyyy-MM-dd')}' and Created lt '@{addDays(utcNow(),1,'yyyy-MM-dd')}'

    when i use this it only seems to pull data if there was an entry done today, if not it returns []

    Hi @TBODEN ,

    The 'ge' is the abbreviation of 'is greater than or equal to', which means greater than or equal to, and the 'lt' is the abbreviation of 'is less than', which means less than.

    Your expression is missing 'formatDateTime', it should be this expression:

    formatDateTime(utcNow(),'yyyy-MM-dd')
    addDays(utcNow(),1,'yyyy-MM-dd')

    Created ge 'formatDateTime(utcNow(),'yyyy-MM-dd')' and Created lt 'addDays(utcNow(),1,'yyyy-MM-dd')'

    The meaning of this piece of code is to filter out items whose creation date is greater than or equal to today and less than tomorrow. Therefore, if you create a new item today, the data will be extracted.

    Best Regards,

    Sunshine Gu

    ah i see,  can you possibly explain how this would then trigger if there is no data to compare to?  It doesnt seem to be proceeding to the next step
