"Attachment" Control versus "Add Picture" Control

I am having some confusion on which control to use to upload pictures to SharePoint:-

1) Attachment control

2) Add Picture control

now based on my test on desktop browsers and mobile app, they act almost the same, where on desktop browsers, they allow us to upload file/images, where the Attachment will default the file type to All File, while the Add Picture control will default to images types only.

and on mobile app, both when click allow us to upload files/images or take a direct image from our phone.. so what is the real difference between those 2 controls? and which one to us if our main purpose is to upload and take images (by images i mean multiple images)?

Thanks

    Hi @johnjohnPter ,

    The choice between using the "Attachment" control and the "Add Picture" control in PowerApps for uploading pictures to SharePoint depends on your specific needs:

    1. Attachment Control:

      • Allows users to attach any type of file, not just images.
      • Ideal if you need the flexibility to upload different file types.
      • Can handle multiple files at once.
    2. Add Picture Control:

      • Specifically designed for image files.
      • Provides a better user experience for images, such as taking a picture directly from the phone.
      • Typically restricts the file type to images, which can simplify the user interface.

    Given your requirement to upload and take images, the "Add Picture" control is likely the more suitable option. It's optimized for image handling and will provide a more streamlined process for users who are only working with images.

    @johnjohnPter ,

    To upload multiple images using the "Add Picture" control in PowerApps, you will need to implement a workaround since the "Add Picture" control is designed for single image uploads. Here’s a simple way to allow users to upload multiple images:

    1. Use a Collection: When a user selects an image using the "Add Picture" control, add that image to a collection. Users can repeat this process to add multiple images.
      Collect(ImageCollection, {Image: AddPictureControl.Media});

      Replace AddPictureControl with the name of your "Add Picture" control.

      1. Display the Collection: Use a gallery to display the images that the user has added to the collection, so they can review what they've uploaded.

      2. Upload the Collection: When the user submits the form, use a loop with the Patch or ForAll function to upload each image in the collection to the designated location in SharePoint.

        ForAll(ImageCollection As _Image,
         // Add your logic to upload _Image.Image to SharePoint
        );

        You may need to create a flow in Power Automate to handle the uploading process if PowerApps' built-in functions do not meet your needs.

        By using this method, you can effectively bypass the single image limitation of the "Add Picture" control and allow for multiple image uploads.

        Hope this helps!

    @Pro_User_365 Thanks for the update. but can i automatically upload the image to sharepoint, instead of having to store them inside a gallery? i mean to run the flow directly when the image got added from the Add Picture control? will this work?
