Can PA Desktop Login to a Website and follow my Actions to full record

Colleagues

Ive been using the PAo365 flows - Very simple stuff and it works well.

I now have a need to complete a task such as follows:

log onto a website - Website is asana.com
Navigate to an area where I can export Project Data
Click :Export a CSV
Save the CSV to a specific location

I dont have a premium license - Ive just asked for it.

Can Power Automate Desktop do the above and if yes

Which option should I use to record?
Can I schedule this online i.e my LAPTOP can be switched off as the CSV is going to a shared OneDrive/SharePoint location?

Hi,

Yes these are steps than PAD can complete EASY.

1. You can use the Record desktop flows and record your actions like logging in ETC, this will give you a kick start on how to automate these things.

2. Yes and No, you can schedule the flows but they can not run on a machine that is OFF. In this case you can use a Virtual Machine or just keep your laptop on.

I suggest avoiding the recorder at all cost. See this tutorial on web automation in Power Automate Desktop and build the flow yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm7B_N2eSYY&ab_channel=AndersJensen

It is quite easy.

The Premium license will only make it possible to run your desktop flow when your machine is on and an active user session is available (you are logged in and the machine is not locked). The Power Automate Process license could also support logging into the machine, if the user is logged out or the machine is locked. But there is no way to run a flow if the machine is off. You need a machine available to run the desktop flow.

@Agnius I would actually not avoid the recorder especially for starters. This way they can at least see which activity PAD uses for simple automation. 😄

Otherwise they could have a long/hard time searching for all the activities. Over time I agree that you could stop using it. Because it can be less accurate and ineffecient at times. But other than that it gives a great kickstart...

Indeed I watched this and executed it step by step.

I then realised that due to the complications of MFA it may not be the best option for now.

However it has not get me intrigued and Im asking for a Premium License to explore what it can do.

@jimmyg706 All our logins to websites are MFA, we have a pretty easy solution for these depending on the kind of MFA u are using. Could you explain the kind of MFA you guys use? Perhaps I could give you quick insights and workarounds.
