Copilot Studio expiration and renewal policy for student accounts

Hello everyone,
I am using Microsoft Copilot Studio for development and testing purposes, logging in with my official student/academic email.
When I signed up, the platform showed the "Start your free trial" option. However, as a student, I do not have tenant administrator privileges, so I am blocked from viewing the "Licensing" or "Capacity" tabs in the admin center to check my exact status.
I would highly appreciate it if someone could clarify the following:
What is the actual lifespan and expiration policy for Copilot Studio when using an active academic identity?
Does the environment auto-renew based on developer activity (like the Power Apps Developer Plan), or will it strictly shut down after the trial period ends?
What is the best practice for students to keep their built AI agents running for educational and testing projects?
Thank you in advance for your support!

The Copilot Studio trial is 60 days but the trial environment itself expires in 30 days and takes all your agents and data with it when it does. Those are two separate things and a lot of people get caught out by that.

It does not auto-renew like the Power Apps Developer Plan. You can manually extend it in 30-day increments up to 90 days total, and you'll get email reminders before it expires.

The bigger issue for you as a student without tenant admin access is that to keep your agents beyond 30 days you need to convert the trial environment to a production environment  which requires admin rights. Worth asking your institution's IT team to do that, or to assign you a Power Apps Developer Plan which is completely free and gives you a persistent developer environment with no expiry.

Also note the trial lets you build and test agents but you cannot publish externally just something to keep in mind.
