Using Drop Downs. How do I send back a different value than that which is displayed?

I have a Drop Down control in my Canvas App.

It displays the CompanyName values from a collection.

The collection has 2 fields. ID & CompanyName.

However, the value I want to save, from the same record, is the ID field.

How do I specify this?

Dropdown controls contain an entire record but only display one field in the window. The ID field is accessible as follows:

Dropdown1.Selected.ID

You put that info in the Update property of the Card - the part that holds the text input of the form

You can mention the following in the Update property of the drop down card:

LookUp(CollectionName, CompanyName=ddField.Value).ID

Also, in the default value of the card, you should do similar formula:

LookUp(CollectionName, ID=ThisItem.<field name>).CompanyName
