Power Apps Licensing - Enterprise Level

Hi guys,

I have a licensing question where I can't figure out what to look for in the licensing guide.

I want to use Power Apps in my Power BI Report because of the writeback functionality.

My user count is huge. We are talking about 4000 users who should write back.

But the problem is that the Per App/User License is much too expensive and with the annual costs an own development seems much cheaper.

My question is now - Is there a server license for Power Apps? (Power Portals can not be integrated into Power Bi)

BR,

Josef

There is no server license.  But depending on what you are accessing Power Apps with you may not need additional licensing.  Power Apps is fully licensed for use with Office 365 in your Office license, which you probably have if you are using Power BI.  The spots where you need additional licensing would be when you are using a Premium connector, like connecting to Azure SQL.  But if you are working with Power BI against a SharePoint list or Excel file stored in OneDrive your Office license already covers Power Apps.

If you do need a premium connector then your only choice is either Per App or Per User licensing.

Ok I forgot to mention that I need a premium connector.

Simply because of the volume of data, which could not be covered by a list.

With the prices that are currently available and my number of users I will probably end up developing it myself.

€400k  for writing back per year in a report....

Unfortunately this means that big customers will develop something themselves. Too bad for Microsoft.

The one suggestion that comes from Microsoft in this instance is that If you are an Enterprise have this discussion with the people at Microsoft who you buy licensing from.  They are doing a lot of custom pricing for this kind of scenario.
