Update property based on folder name

Hey PA Community!

I need some input on how to build a flow. I have a SharePoint document library that contains folders for each "case". So a folder that reads "Case-1", "Case-2" etc.

Inside those Case folders are images and documents that all individually contain the property "Case ID" as well, so if they are ever in a different view you can still sort them by the Case ID property.

Now, the issue is that when people sync this document library to their desktop and drop images and files into the Case folders, that Case ID property doesn't get updated on the individual file. I am hoping to automate this process.

So basically I need to create a flow that will identify an image or file that has the missing Case ID property and update it based on the folder name (as the folder name would be "Case ID-"#")

Help with building this flow would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @TorreyFalconer this is exactly what Document Sets in SharePoint are for, i recommend you create a Document set and replace your folders with document sets, the usage will be very similar for the users, but it will allow you to share columns and therefore automatically populate metadata with the case id. It will be much simpler and more reliable than constructing/monitoring a flow.
