Connecting Forms to Lists via Power Automate - some fields not pulling through

Hello,

I'm using Power Automate to try to transfer the results of a Form to Lists.

The Form just asks you for your favourite book and whether it's fiction or non-fiction. These fields are text and choice fields respectively:

The List has two columns, one for each question in the Form. The column types are also Text and Choice respectively:

Below is how the right-hand column is configured:

(There's no Column validation applied.)

The Power Automate flow is triggered whenever a response to this Form is submitted. The first action is Get response details, which is linked to the Form and finds the Response ID:

The second action is to Create [Sharepoint] item, which is linked to the List and matches the Form fields with the List columns:

However, whenever I submit a test response to the Form, all that pulls through into Lists is the name of the book:

What am I doing wrong? I get the same results if, in Lists, I set Display choices using to Radio Buttons.

Many thanks!

@MConvery Could you share a full screenshot of your flow in the Classic Designer. I would recommend using the Classic Designer for your flow as the New Designer is still buggy—especially when it comes to using the MS Form Trigger and action. Can you expand the actions by clicking on them and ensure your flow is in edit mode before taking the screenshot?

I would imagine Power Automate has nested your Create Item action inside an Apply to Each action. This seems to be the behaviour of the new designer. The Apply to Each action is not necessary in your flow. Once you've switch over to the Classic Designer, pull the Create Item action outside of the Apply to Each action and delete it (the Apply to Each action).

I’ll also show you how to take a text response and convert it to a number with a switch action and with an expression. After adding the response to SharePoint, we’ll send the user an email confirmation with all the details of their form submission.

    Hi @creativeopinion ,

    Thanks for replying.

Here's how the flow looks in the Classic Designer:

    MConvery_0-1716367830457.png

There doesn't seem to be any "Apply to Each" action, although I am very new to Power Automate and so could be overlooking something.

I'll have a watch through your tutorials and see if they help. Watch this space!

    Best,

@MConvery as your SharePoint column is a choice type make sure in the create item action that you are selecting Is it fiction or non-fiction Value, not just Is it fiction or non-fiction.
