Good day,

Connection References, Canvas App, App Registrations - Not working together for SQL Server data sources in a multi environment setup.

I can't setup connection references to be used across Environments while using App registration details.

Can anyone assist?

Is there other best practices out there for this? I want to be able to move the app to other environments using Azure DevOps. However without connection references this doesn't seem plausible.

pls try the following:

Create a Single App Registration: Register an application in Azure Active Directory for SQL Server access. Use the same app registration (client ID and secret) across all environments.

Grant Permissions: Assign SQL Server permissions (via roles) to the app registration for all environments. Ensure the app registration has consistent access to the SQL Server database.

Set Up Connection References: Create a connection reference in each environment pointing to SQL Server. Ensure the connection reference uses the app registration credentials.

Deployment Workflow: Use Azure DevOps pipelines to deploy the Canvas App and connection references. Use parameterization (e.g., Power Platform Build Tools) to update environment-specific connection settings during deployment.
