Power Apps set dropdown value based on textinput control

Hi Members,

I have a requirement in Power Apps where I want to populate or bind the text input values in a Dropdown control.

Scenario:

I have a Power Apps Text input control [Multiline], a Dropdown control, and a Button Control. I will enter some text inside the text input box and then click on the Button.

Once I click on the button, all the user text values will bind in the Dropdown control as shown below:

Error 3.jpgBut in my case, the text values are binding in the dropdown control like the image below. [which is an unexpected result]

Error 2.jpg

In the button control's OnSelect property, I have put the below code:

UpdateContext({Country:TextInput1.Text})

Error4.jpg

In the dropdown control's Items property, I have put the below code:

Table({Text:Country,Value:Blank()},{Text:Country,Value:Blank()})

Error1.jpg

Can anyone please suggest how I can resolve this? Thanks in advance!

Hi @Hemashree , Try this on OnSelect of button:

    UpdateContext({Country:Split(TextInput1.Text, Char(10))})

And then use Country variable directly to your dropdown item property.

    I hope this helps.

Thank You, If there is any chance without using text input values, I need to bind the values in a button control.

I want to bind or populate the values when I click on the button control.

Once a button triggers, all the values should bind in the Dropdown control.

Hi @Hemashree , If you do not use the TextInput.Text then from where you get the value? Do you have any data source? Like SP list where you can store all countries. Or you can create local collection

    ClearCollect(col_Countries,Table({Country:"India"}, {Country:"Germany"}, {Country:"USA"}))

And then use this collection as item property of your dropdown.

    I hope this helps.
