What's the best way to push a new version to different devices

Hello, I have developed an app and installed on end users' mobile, ipad devices, it's also integrated in MS Teams. When I need to release a new version or bug fix, I need to clear app cache on the mobile/ipad device or reopen MS Teams app. Just want to know what's the best practice to push a new version/bug fix because with more and more users using the app on their own devices, it's going to be difficult to maintain if we have to manually clear the app cache for every new version. Thanks!

Curious, why do you have to clear the app cache?  What is the problem if you dont?  We have never had to clear a cache for a users app to update to the latest version.

    Hi @Li,

By new version, did you mean the version of PowerApps? If so, you just need to Publish the app to the users after updating the app. And the new version will be available to everyone with whom the app is shared. For more information, please refer to:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/save-publish-app

    Regards,

    Mona

Hi all, thanks for your reply. My problem is once I publish a new version, end users (if they do not close the app from their iphones and still have that app running in the background) will not see the updated version automatically or with any alert saying a new version is available, isn't it? They have to either close the app and reopen it or clear the app cache to see the updated version? Or is there any time out mechnisam so that after being idle for a little while, the app will be reloaded again from mobile devices?

Sometimes, without clearing app cache, it's still loding the old function/variables. e.g. I would like to create a variable to store a selected item from gallery it was UpdateContext({CurrentItem: Gallery.SelectedItem}); Because this item may be changed by other action from other screen so in order to get the correct status I changed it to the following.

UpdateContext({CurrentItem: First(Filter('SharePoint List', ID = SelectedItemID))}); In order to get the new variable working, I had to clear my mobile app cache to see the new behaviour...
