SubmitForm() not working in edit form.

Hi all,

I have created a simple app with browseGallery and edit form.

In the edit form i have used only one Field for update. After i entered some value in the field i have pressed submit button on the top of the screen. It is not storing the value which i entered and also throwing a warning message like "An entry is required or has invalid value".

I have used SQL server as connection and the table contains primary key.

Please can anyone help me solve this?

Thanks in advance,

with regards,

user237.

    Hi @User237

Just to confirm, you're receiving this error when you edit an existing record.

It sounds like there might be some constraint on the field that you are trying to modify. To determine whether this error relates directly to the field that you're trying to update, are you able to modify your edit form so that it updates a different field? If so, does this work without any error?

Another way in which you can diagnose this further is to examine the error messages by calling the Error function. You can set a gallery control to this function, and the return value from this function may return more precise details as to why this update fails.

    Hi @timl,

    Thanks for your reply,

I am trying to update the existing record.

There is no constraint on the field. The error is regarding the field which i am trying to update because below of the field a message called "The field Remarks is required".

If i am trying to update the other field using UpdateIf(); It is working.

    With regards,

    user237.

@User237 - Perhaps the data card isn't passing the field value that you enter. Can you check that the Update property of your data card is definitely set correctly?

    Hi @timl,

    Thanks for your reply,

In the update poperty of the datacard, it is fine datacardvalue.Text.

I didn't understand why it is behaving like that.

    Hi @User237

If the update property of your data card is set correctly, I'm not sure why it's behaving like that either.

The next thing I would try is to create a new form and to see whether or not you can update your field with this new form. This could help diagnose whether or not there is some other setting on your original form that causes the update to fail.
