How do I copy the ID to another ID column in list

Hi,

I exported the data from another database app to Sharepoint list. There is an auto generated ID column from the previous database app.

I was able to create a flow to generate the ID into ITEmpID if when new item is added (example 2661) but how do I get the previous ID to be copied from ID to ITEmpID (example 1-2660)?

Thanks!

Hi @Holly_CMS , Are you facing any issue in Copying the value to column? I mean we could write a Power automate flow and copy all the values from ID to ITEmpID.

For the new entries, no. But for the ones that already existed, yes....

Hi @Holly_CMS , You can create an instant flow with Manually trigger a flow. You can then iterate of items having empty ITEmpID and update the ITEmpID using the ID column value.

Sorry, I am learning building flows. And this is one thing that absolutely drives

me insane about the Manually Trigger A Flow. I can't pull any ID for RequiredIDRidiculousness.pngthe "required" ID....

Hi @Holly_CMS , We first need to use "Get Items" to retrieve all items then iterate using "Apply_to_each" action and call Update Item.

I figured it out - found another "Get Items" connector that didn't require an "ID"

This is what I did...and it works...This is ridiculous that there are 2 different Get Items Sharepoint connectors....

Hi Holly, I am a total Power Automate beginner.  I have the same need as you had here. Would you be willing to share how you both copied one column/field (auto ID#) into another column initially for those existing SharePoint (list) records and to trigger it to happen for all new items added?  I just for the life of me cannot figure out how to do it.

I have 2 fields/columns to copy into the same sharepoint list. (e.g. copy autogenerated ID and Created by into 2 separate columns,

i.e. ID number field copied into RefIDNo field

& Created By copied into RefRequestor field.
