Navigate to a screen and change it's default mode?

Is it possible to navigate to a screen that's default mode is New and change it to Edit?

 

I have a Form that users fill in and needs to be in mode New.  They can review their forms from a display screen which is FormViewer and all data cards are in Display Mode View.

 

But, if they need to edit any part of the Form, is it possible to navigate back to the Form via an Edit Icon but change the default mode to edit instead of New?  I would rather avoid creating a duplicate screen in mode edit (as my form is split across 10 screens...it's very long!)

    The screen itself isn't New or Edit, but the form is.  The form can be changed as you navigate to the screen using either Editform(formname) or Newform(formname)

    Thanks! I got there by creating a variable and using it to change the default mode of my form
