Hi team, appreciate some help to see if Flow could be used to solve this scenario? 

 

I have a list of approx 1000 employees and their managers (300 approx)

I'd like to send an email to all managers, inviting them to approve/reject their employees access to our tool.

When the manager comes back to the list, they should only see their own employee (or in cases more than one employee)

The manager should be able to approve/reject each of their employee(s).

 

The list can be in excel or on a SharePoint, whichever suits.

 

Ideas to get me moving?

    Hi @Stewartjohn100,

     

    Could you please share more details about the configuration of your sharepoint list?

     

    Currently there may not be a suitable way to set SP list or Excel which items are visible to a specific person in flow.

     

    The SP list is an access that could set permissions on the items, perhaps implementing the "manager only see their own employee". Although it is a bit cumbersome, because you need to set each item. You could try it out as follows:

       

      Select item, open details pane, click Add People, add the person who can access this item, and grant permissions, as below:

    Just like the above picture settings, when I set zoeTest1 to have permission to edit the Title to 1, 2 items, zoeTest1 can only see these two items. zoeTest1 could also edit these items, as below:

    Please take a try with it on your side or share more details so we would try to provide a proper workaround for you.

    Thanks Barry for the feedback and the suggestion, however, to enable persmissions on each item would be too much - I've in excess of 1000 users. Attached view is a list of employees, sorted by manager, with three approval options.

     

    Preferable if I can get the manager Billy, to see his employees, rather than having him come to the list and find his employees. Also, important that only Billy can update the Approval status for his employees.
