Is there anyway for the image in my HTML to pop up immediately as soon as recipients open it? When I open the email, there is a tiny box with a red x. 5 seconds later, the image finally loads.

Not likely. This is typically an internet connection speed/capacity issue. One thing you can try on your side is to change the image src to another place and see if that helps.
@Brewster Have you checked the image size?
Yes, I have. Tried smaller images too. Still delayed.
