PowerApps vs SharePoint | Names of Files

Hello everyone !

I'm having a problem with PowerApps vs SharePoint.

I have a list associated with PowerApps.

And in the app generates a name in the file, with customer name, customer id, product creation version and date of that specific day.

But what I really liked is that after day 1 of each year updates.

For example, when a proposal is created on January 1, 2022 in the file name the proposal number need to becomes number 1 again,

instead of continuing in sequential number.

What happened in this case was the last file I had as project is number 38, but on January 1 continued to 39, 40, 41 and so on, and what I wanted is to start again at number 1 when the first day of the year 2022 begins .

Thank you to anyone who can give me a solution.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    Can you please post (in Text) the code you are currently using to generate the file name.

    So, it's like that :

    So this formula basically uses the Concatenate function to build the filename in the format we need. Concatenate takes a list of strings as parameters and munges them together. In this case, it takes:

    • The audit number from the textbox – Auditnumber.Text
    • A hyphen – “-“
    • Todays date in dd:mm:yy format and converts it to text – Text(Today(),”[$-en-US]dd:mm:yy”))
    • Another hyphen – “-“
    • The row count for PictureList collection, adds 1 to it and converts the result to text – Text(CountRows(PictureList)+1)
    • The file type – “.jpg”

    But I need to substitute when every year starts.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    Firstly you do not need Concatenate - you can use

    Auditnumber.Text & "-" & Text(Today(),"[$-en-US]dd:mm:yy") & "-" & Text(CountRows(PictureList)+1) & ".jpg"

    To allow for the year

    Auditnumber.Text & "-" & Text(Today(),"[$-en-US]dd:mm:yy") & "-" &
    Text(
     CountRows(
     Filter(
     Sort(
     PictureList,
     ID,
     Descending
     ),
     Year(Created) = Year(Today())
     )
     ) + 1
    ) & ".jpg"

    but the main issue here is that CountRows() and Year() are not Delegable. I have used the newest (500-2,000 delegation limit), but once you get picture numbers past this, it will not work.

    @WarrenBelz  The example of the code I paste in the message was the example of this website : A Filename Generation Example for PowerApps with Flow – CleverWorkarounds ;

    So I don't know if it works in my case . (?)

    @Anonymous ,

    But you supplied

    Text(CountRows(PictureList)+1) & ".jpg"

    which is the number of items you have in PictureList (I assume pictures). You would use the formula in the same place you are using it now as it simply returns as file name.

    @Anonymous ,

    Please post the actual code you are using - you can change the field names etc, but I need something to start with.

    I will be offline now due to timezone - I will pick up you response in the morning.

    Hi,

    Can you please share an existing file name. I want to make sure I understand the issue correctly.

    You could keep a counter instead and append that to the file name instead. The counter resets as soon as the month is January.

    Thanks,

    Pratima
