Why would the field appear shrinked when form is loaded?

Hi All,

I am seeing a weird pattern.

One out of 50 times (approx...obviously, lol) I load my SP site and click on NEW to open the form the field "Report Type" appears collapsed and seem hesitant to appear.

It should appear like this instead, which it does for the most part. But my testers are annoyed with the inconsistent experience, and i do want to rectify this as well. Please help

Ah the oddities of the SharePoint Integrated form 🙄

The only suggestion I would have on it is to check the height, width, X and Y properties of those controls in the Datacard and see if there is something in the evaluation formula of each that might be an issue (most likely on the Heights from the picture). If they have formulas in them, you might as well just change them to hard values instead as you never really want them to change.

I removed formulas from all X,Y,Width of these top controls except, i think i would need the dynamic formula that's in there. What i want to show here are three images below in order on how they appear sequentially when the form is loading. Even a GiF would be extremely quick for you to observer that hence images.

1) Form loads with default READ- only membership view with limited fields

2) It realizes that I belong to IT group using OfficeGroups.ListMembers and so all fields want to appear. It's here that the field in red flies in from the top to appear, and fields (there are more such) in green appear to lift themselves up

3) And finally, as i see most times- the space between key/ title & value is adjusted as highlighted with Yellow circles.
But, at times, i see duplicate form screens (asked a separate question on community) or shrinked "Report Type" field, which i want to correct through this post. I'll wait for your next revert to confirm that height should be static if there's nothing else to check.

For the most part with the controls in your datacard, you can make them all static (no formulas on the X, Y, Height, Width). The Visible property of the datacard will simply make it and all of its controls be visible or not.

So, if the problem persists after they are static, then something else is afoot.

I'm going to leave the double vision post unanswered at the moment to see if anyone else has any ideas on that. If I respond, then most people on the forum who want to answer things will see that it has a response and will not spend their time looking. If it shows 0 responses then you might get some ideas from others on it.

@RandyHayes So, i did check it per below but for another row 447 instead of 445. And the results are below
The reason why i didn't check for 445 is because I already lost its data for the field when clicked on teh item when i view it. And to double check, that behavior just as i write. I now clicked the item 447 to view it in form. It showed the values fine in list and now in form too. But, when i hit save, the list became empty for this field and so does the form too.

Now, it says- we can't find data
It got erased from list too

Yes, definitely don't save anything at this point...We're just checking to see why the DSI is not producing selected items.

But your statement -

So first the red part - don't do that at this time. We know the save part worked from before as you said the correct values were there. We just want to see why they are not showing in the combobox.

BUT...you said now that they did show up properly?? Is that the case?

Yes @RandyHayes - they show up fine in the form when viewed and in the list too.
They appear well even in the lookup formula.
I wouldn't save now as suggested, but i already tested hitting "Cancel" button- and that's not affecting the values which is good. The values are retained by the control, not getting lost!

By the way...I think our two posts have crossed - this is the one on the control shrinking and the other was on the DSI issue...no worries.

So the concern is this...we replaced the "ThisItem" in the formula with a hard coded lookup to what should be the record for the form.

So, if you put the formula back to ThisItem instead of the Lookup...does the problem return?

I am concerned over the strange actions on the form as I noticed yesterday that referring to ThisItem was not producing the same results as looking up the record directly and getting its values - even though the Item property of the for was exactly that! There should be no distinction between the Item and the Lookup, because the Item is the lookup. It almost seems like something has gone wrong with the form itself and it not providing accurate values based on the Item.

Also...I think we left the form DefaultMode in New mode before - change that to Edit as a default.

@RandyHayes The lookup thing is returning the right values and the actual FORALL formula returns nothing except that scope notification.
So, in short the problem returns if i don't card code without look-up. And checked this even after setting the form to edit mode. Thanks

Yes, the scope warning in the editor is going to show you that when you reference ThisItem. We can't change that.

The point was :

- You said that putting the LookUp directly in the formula produced the proper selected items in the combobox.

- The mission was to put it back to ThisItem and then play the form again and see if it produced the same results.

You'll only be able to visually see it when playing the app.

@RandyHayes I played the app, selected values for that and then how what DSI property shows and it still shows nothing, unfortunate.
