A very long InfoPath Form that uses repeating tables

I have a very long InfoPath Form that uses repeating tables throughout from SP 2010 that I’d like to recreate with PowerApps and connect to a SharePoint Online list. However, I’m having a difficult time figuring out the structure.

FORM:

The form has 15 sections. A different person will edit each section. Users will be completing this over time, not all at once.

Each section of the form has the following:

  • Does this apply? (y/n)
  • If yes, add a 2 repeating tables with each with a variable number of rows consisting of a text and hyperlink fields (using popup form)
  • Notes field (text)
  • Exception field (text)
  • Assigned To (person)
  • Review Completed (checkbox)
  • Some sections can have additional fields of information.

I’m thinking an approach could be one screen for each section of the form. Each screen would have one form and 2 Galleries (using Galleries to replace the repeating tables). Users can navigate the form with Tabs. I’m not sure if this approach will work and I'm looking for some guidance. I cannot figure out:

  • Submitting to SharePoint: Each screen would have 1 form and 2 Galleries to connect back into my SharePoint List. I have tried saving the repeating table info in a new SP list but I still cannot figure out how to get it back into my main list. Also, how would I also populate these galleries when a user returns to that screen on the form?

  • Using a Tabbed navigation: Create a variable so that users can tab thru the form and save as they go. Reference article
    • I have created this tabbed navigation as a Component. How can I set each tab so that no matter what other screen you are coming from, it always saves to the current active item. Is this possible to do with Components?
    • Highlight a tab so that you know which screen is active

Before designing the interface of your data, consider the tables (lists) that you will need. In particular, whether you have one to many relationships in your data. The form of your app should follow the functional relationships.
