Hi everyone,
Little back end story about us: Our company maintains airplanes. We want to make an app for the monthly require calibrations of our tools and other equipment which will have so many entries that we need to use SQL or Data Verse. Each maintenance team has any where from 6 to 10. Our Microsoft rep told us we will need licenses for every user. We were also told by the rep, that if 1 or 2 people in these teams would use the app, then per app license would be better which really is closer to our use case. The only problem we have though is each month could vary in the teams that need more than just 2 people to help fill out the reports.Total amount of maintenance teams is 236, and growing (thankfully too). Is the per app license the only route we can take? Or is there something else we are missing. Hate buy over 1,000 licenses when only sometimes a third to half of them might be used in a given month.
Hi,
in your case, maybe can be interesting uso the Pay As You Go licensing where you pay only the use of the app, no matters the number of the users.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/pay-as-you-go-overview

Thank you for your reply Alberto. Today, I had a meeting with our Microsoft PowerApp rep and was told she will not sell any "pay as you go" licensing and that the best way for us to go would be per app license. She was very hostile towards pay as you go.
jajajajajaja OK, maybe because in this option she hasn't the control of the licenses. She doesn't sell you payg licenses, you can activate yourself in your Azure tenant and configure your power platform environment with it.
If you can use the Dataverse in MS Teams and create the app within MS Teams you will not need to buy that premium license. You get 2 GB of Dataverse space in each MS Team. If you want to add a connection to SQL that will be different and everyone will need the premium license. If you can keep your app in MS Teams and are good with 2 GB or less of Dataverse space you should be good to go.
That is absolutely not acceptable. I would look at who your companies rep is and not only would I raise the issue of you being refused licensing that is "CLEARLY" available at the tenant level and published on their website but also that you want another rep for the Power Platform. Insane that you would be getting that level of response from Microsoft and it should be reported.
