Combobox Displaying Choices from Stored Item

I have searched and searched all over along with multiple YouTube videos to find a solution to what feels like should be a straightforward feature of Poweapps.

1. Using a sharepoint list as my datasource

2. Using a form with that sharepoint list as it's datasource

3. Have a requested services choices column in my sharepoint list with allow multiple selections selected

4. Added this field to my PowerApp form using the built in form function

5. Powerapps creates a datacard and combobox for the field.

6. I updated the combobox to allow for multiple selections

6. Combobox properly pulls choices and allows me to select them

7. Submit form through a button.

    SubmitForm('Quote Request Form');

8. Only one value of the choice column is saved

9. If I open sharepoint list through sharepoint I see just one value saved as well.

    Hey there,

I just did a quick test on my side and the form is passing both values. I've noticed that modern controls can be a little quirky sometimes. If you haven't already, remove the field and add it again. Sometimes a simple remove and replace of controls fixes issues.

You can also double check your data card and make sure all the advanced properties, the Update one in particular, didn't change somehow:

Also worth checking the Advanced section of your combo box just to see if anything weird happen there

Your stuff should match most of mine

    Hi @alwayscurious1 ,

You should also try and update the SharePoint list connection, or just remove the connection and add it to the App again. The thing is if the column settings changed, you need to refresh the connection to use new settings, and if a Choices column allows multiple selections, in PowerApps the Combo box should allow multiple as well by default.

    Best regards,

Thanks for the suggestion. I removed connection and re-added control now I get this random blank value

I then unselect the blank and select the broadband and dedicated values and submit the form.

In the sharepoint list I see the values for broadband and dedicated for the column but when I retrieve the record through the form I see this in the combo box.

All other fields in the form are retained and displayed correctly.

    Hi @alwayscurious1 ,

Please check DefaultSelectedItems property, see if it's default to [Parent.Default]. If it is, please change to Parent.Default

Besides, please make sure the Value field is added as the display field.

    Modern controls are silly 😅

So @v-jefferni solution definitely worked on my end, just remember to do those steps every time you add a form with a multi-select. I added a second form with the same fields and it happen again

    1. Remove the brackets from Parent.Default in the DefaultSelectedItems
    2. Add the Value field to the combo box control via that menu

Out of the dozens of threads, multiple youtube tutorials, etc. I read no one mentioned removing the brackets and that fixed it. Thank you @v-jefferni that was the issue.

Welcome to modern controls! Where everything looks great but there are a bunch of odd behaviors! 🤣

I've lost count of the weird things I keep running into.
