Can't send mail with the mail connector

We cannot use the Outlook connector to send email so I'm trying to use the regular Mail connector but I'm getting an error when I send one. The error is:

Mail.SendEmailV3 failed: The request was not sent or there was no response from the server. Check your internet connection.

And my code is this

Mail.SendEmailV3("myEmail@gmail.com", "Test Email", "This is a test email. ", false)

There doesn't seem to be anything on this online but I did find this statement:

The Mail connector is currently restricted for new tenants. Microsoft is working on enabling this connector. In the meantime, please consider using alternatives like Office 365 Outlook, Gmail, SendGrid connector instead.

Does that mean that, since we haven't used it before, we can't use it now and have to go with an alternative?

Hi @dsvick

I haven't heard this but As you said and the MS article clearly states this won't work for new tenants. Looks like we can request/subscribe to it

I saw that form but it looks more like your subscribing/unsubscribing to emails not to the service itself. I've got a call in to support and I'll update this with what I hear from them.

After a discussion with MS support this Mail connector is in the process of being deprecated. It isn't super clear but on the Mail Connectors page it says The Mail connector is currently restricted for new tenants. Microsoft is working on enabling this connector. In the meantime, please consider using alternatives like Office 365 Outlook, Gmail, SendGrid connector instead.
Which essentially means that if you aren't already using it you can't start.

You would think they could update the verbiage on the mail connector to say its deprecated, and/or not make it seem like they're doing something in the background that will enable it in the next day or two...
