USB Barcode Scanner - Textinput does not show the complete code after scanning

Hello everyone,

I have an app with several input options, manual, mobile scan and USB barcode reader. When I scan with the USB barcode reader, the scanned code is only partially displayed. The number of characters in the same scanned code is also always different. Sometimes it is complete, but unfortunately not always.

I have also scanned the codes in another program (to rule out a problem with the scanner), e.g. Excel, here the code is always displayed in full.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Greetings, Michael

    Hey @Michael_85 ,

Are you using a Modern control or a classic one?

Could you check if the Maximum Length property of your Text input is not Blocking the rest of the Barcode?

It could Also be named MaxLength if you are using modern controls.

I use the classic control (modern control hast some issues with the "SetFocus" so this is not an option for me).

Maximum Lenght ist not blocking the Input because sometimes the scanned code is complete but unfortunately not on every scan process.

Could you send a Screenshot of he textLabel when it's not working?

That helps identify the problem sometimes

Hi Michael, it might be a physical USB scanner issue. For my case, I just changed the USB scanner, and it solved my problem. My scanner works in the reverse, shows broken code on Notepad but shows the entire code in PowerApps.

Keep in mind that a barcode scanner functions as a virtual keyboard. Many scanners can be configured to send specific key inputs (such as Tab or Enter) before or after the scanned code.

This can occasionally cause issues in certain applications. For example, if the scanner sends a Tab key, it might shift focus to a button or another field in the app. If an Enter key is sent afterward, it could trigger unintended actions or even cause the app to crash. 😊

    pls try the following:

Use the SetFocus() function in Power Apps to programmatically ensure the input field is ready to capture the scan. - SetFocus(BarcodeInputField)
