Portal Web api are in Preview Stage. Can I use it in Portals?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Portal web api is still in preview stage. It is a good practice to wait until the API is officially out. Sometimes it may bring significant breaking changes to your portal. And there is a possibility of deprecation of some of its subset API like Dataverse API.

Remember your portal should be "Your portal version must be 9.2.6.41 or later for this feature to work."

@Anonymous please take into consideration the points from @ragavanrajan

I personally don't believe Microsoft would be rolling back the API or make any major changes, so I wouldn't think it is a big issue to use it in production environment.

Just keep in mind that you could end up having to refactor some code in the future, but again, I don't think that will happen.

Portals Web API will be generally available by Feb 2021.

This is a widely anticipated feature; However, I wouldn't be doing a lot of customization around this API until GA. And have back-up plans if there is a need for code refactor.

With the current release, Web API operations aren't blocked on configuration entities. However, this issue will be fixed in upcoming releases.
