For the basic display and edit pages of a mobile powerapp to display sharepoint contents, they typically carry over browsegallery1.selected to display the specific item's information. but in my app, both the display and edit pages claim "Invalid Formula. Expected a value compatible with Data Source". I compared this new powerapps with old ones that work, and the properties are virtually identical. Any reason why this happened?

What is the formula for your BrowseGallery?
Also, is the datasource of the BrowseGallery the same as the Datasource for the Form?
This is where the problem will be.
This issue has annoyed me so much so long, even tried some wild workarounds with lookups with no success ... until I understood and checked the answer to your second question ... took me a little time but many thanks. For me it I needed to change from the datasource from [app] to powerbiintegration.data
