Pre Saving of an ID And Edit the data in this ID

Hello Everyone,

Im working with a modell Driven app to document incoming letter and so on. To document those letter im using a Canvas in the Modell Droven App because of some restrains that the modell driven app gives me.

Now to the Problem.
Currently im using a Filter to show me the latest ID and adding 1 to it.

Set(var_NextID; First(SortByColumns(Posteingang; "post_id"; SortOrder.Descending)))

But the Problem with that is if multiple people come and want to document a new letter the same ID will be shown to everyone and thats not the best way to solve it.

My approach would be to open the canvas app and preemptively sumbit a form and open the submited form to edit it. so that the ID wil be saved.

Is this even possible to do that or do you think its not gonna work?

Thx in advance

Why would you like to know the ID of the next record?

You can always make changes in the form and then submit the changes via SubmitForm(...).

Then you could retrieve the ID of this record by setting your variable in the OnSuccess property of the form, if you need to make further edits on that record.

    Set(varID;Form1.LastSubmit.ID)

By using this approach there should not be any conflict if different users simultaniously create different records. They are all stored without a write conflict.
