Onboarding a New Maker

Hello! At my company, I recently started building Power Platform tools on Power Platform environments (Power Apps connected to dataverse tables, Power Automate flows sending daily emails, Power Automate adding rows to Excel files, etc.)

One day, I will leave the company. During that time, we will onboard a new maker to continue to support these tools, because I will no longer be around.

What is the best way to onboard this new maker?

Is there a way to simply give the new maker “god control” over the whole environment? That way they can access and edit anything they need.

    Hi,

first of all, the best practice is working with solutions to group all components of your developments. In this case, the new owner will have all componentes organized.

Other best practices is that all the power apps/flows have minimum a co-owner to avoid these case that the owner is out.

You can assign a co-owner from the power app/flow sharing option i.e.

    • Document everything if it wasn't done already. This includes the use case of the applications, business owners, data source details, purpose of each screen in the app. What each flow does, in fact go to next level and add notes to each action within the flows.
    • If possible, make all the components (apps/flows) as part of solutions.
    • Solutions helps in managing all the components in a much easier way for your new maker.
    • Record all your meetings with the new makers so he/she can refer once you leave the org.
