Restrict Permissions between Sharepoint and Powerapps

Hi everyone,

my case is the following:

I have built a power app and used Sharepoint Lists as datasource. There is one list which is feeding the App with data and I want the users to be able to see the data IN the app but I dont want them to be able to see the column in sharepoint list directly. Thus, I managed to hide this column through "edit view" in sharepoint. However, if users create a new app on their own and set that list as datasource, they are somehow allowed to  fetch this column into their app. Any idea how this can be solved? KEY clue: we are restricted of creating new environments, so removing makers etc would not be an option 😕

Thank you in advance!

    Hi @eiatrou19 ,

The SharePoint permission in PoweApps inherit from the permission of Sharepoint site, so if you want PowerApps users have ability to work with the SharePoint data, there is no way to restrict user from connecting with SharePoint in other App.

The feasible way I come out is to restrict user the permission of creating App.

    Hope this helps.

Hi @v-siky-msft , thank you for your reply! That wouldn't be possible, as we cannot cut out an entire organization from using PowerApps. Is this what you mean?

    Hi @eiatrou19 ,

No, I mean you can't peel off SharePoint permissions in PowerApps, it always inherits users' permissions from SharePoint site.

Users will have access to SharePoint data in all apps, and if you only want users to access SP data in the current app, the only way to do this right now may be to restrict users from creating apps and only have read/write privileges.

    Hope this helps.
